UC BOULDER: The Colorado River water supply crisis in a few graphs: Part 2 Agricultural water use in the Lower Basin

From the University of Colorado at Boulder:

The newly released Record of Decision for Colorado River operations and the Operating Guidelines for 2027 and 2028 provide a range of potential reductions in deliveries to the Lower Basin states, starting immediately with a 1.25 MAF shortage. The potential exists for reduced deliveries of up to 3.0 MAF, after consultation, if hydrologic and reservoir conditions require. This new report looks at how that magnitude of reduction compares to recent use in the Lower Basin, particularly by agricultural water users, and provides context for thinking about how these new mandatory cutbacks might be achieved.
