“The Water Shelf” is a new page on the Maven’s Notebook website dedicated to the growing field of water literature. The page is kicking off with a my Top 20 list of recommended books for the water shelf in your own library and will soon be posting reviews of recently released and soon-to-be-released water books. Finally, we are planning a podcast where authors, fellow reviewers, academics, and aficionados of water books – past and present – discuss their and others’ writings on water. Stay tuned!

If you’d like to dive into the world of water literature but don’t know where to start, check out my Top 20 list, as well as other water books on my shelf. If you’re already an avid reader and have favorites not included on my list (it was hard to choose!), please send me your own Top 10 list. If you are an author of a book on water, thank you for adding your voice to this important body of literature; please send me an email so we can consider featuring your work and help sell some copies :)

As water challenges continue to grow, the number of books exploring these challenges will grow as well. I hope the Water Shelf will be a useful resource helping writers and readers engage in this vital conversation.
