From the Central Valley Regional Water Board:
On 15 December 2022, third-party Coalitions within the Central Valley Region jointly submitted a report proposing Groundwater Protection (GWP) Targets for townships designated as highly vulnerable to nitrate impacts from irrigated agricultural activities. The purpose of the GWP Target development effort is to establish township-level nitrogen loading rates from irrigated agricultural operations that are estimated to achieve compliance with Receiving Water Limitations for groundwater within the time schedules specified in applicable ILRP Waste Discharge Requirements General Orders.
After input from stakeholders and review by Central Valley Water Board staff, the Executive Officer has conditionally Approved the GWP Targets. A copy of the conditional approval letter can be found below:
