From the State Water Board:
On June 1, 2021, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) issued an order that approves, subject to conditions, the changes requested in a Temporary Urgency Change Petition (TUCP) filed by the California Department of Water Resources and the United States Bureau of Reclamation (Petitioners) to modify conditions in permits and a license of the State Water Project and the federal Central Valley Project pursuant to State Water Board Decision 1641. The Order approves, subject to conditions, the Petitioners’ request to change Delta outflow requirements for the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta from June through July and agricultural water quality requirements in the Sacramento River Delta from June through August 15. These changes are expected to conserve water supplies in upstream reservoirs for later in the year and allow the Petitioners greater operational flexibility in response to the second consecutive year of critically dry conditions.
The deadline to file an objection to the TUCP is Friday, June 4, 2021 by 12 noon. The State Water Board will promptly consider any comments or objections, and may make modifications to the order approving the TUCP if warranted based on any comments or objections.
