YOUR INPUT WANTED: Winter-run Chinook Salmon Annual Loss Independent Peer Review

From the Delta Science Program:

At the request of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and California Department of Water Resources, the Delta Science Program is facilitating an independent scientific peer review of the annual loss of Sacramento River winter-run Chinook salmon in water years 2024 and 2025.

The purpose of this review is to identify potential future actions or decisions that could help reduce the impacts of the Central Valley Project and State Water Project on Sacramento River winter-run Chinook salmon. An independent panel of three experts – specializing in salmon biology and behavior, Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta hydrodynamics, and water operations – will produce a joint review report in 2026.

Interested parties are invited to submit input related to this review. Relevant comments will be provided to the panel if received prior to the deadline and must be submitted by December 15, 2025.

Input must be:

1.     Relevant to the review’s Charge questions.
2.     No more than two pages submitted in PDF format per organization or individual.
3.     Emailed to reviewadvice@deltacouncil.ca.gov or mailed to 715 P Street,15-300, Sacramento, CA, 95814.

Input deemed relevant by the Delta lead scientist will be provided to the panel as Supplemental Review Material on a rolling basis and posted on the peer review web page (linked above). At the panel’s discretion, public input may help inform the final report.
