NOW AVAILABLE: New educational resources for the Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program

The California Department of Conservation’s Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program is an initiative aimed at addressing groundwater sustainability and supporting communities affected by reduced agricultural water use. The program provides funding to repurpose agricultural lands into uses that deliver multiple benefits, such as habitat restoration, groundwater recharge, and open space creation.

The Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program (MLRP) Statewide Support Entity has developed two new educational tools designed to support greater understanding and engagement with MLRP:

  • SGMA-MLRP Handout: This infographic-style resource illustrates how the MLRP complements – and differs from – the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). It highlights how both efforts can work together to promote groundwater sustainability through multibenefit land repurposing projects. • MLRP Glossary: A user-friendly glossary featuring simplified definitions of key terms commonly used in the MLRP space. This tool is designed to support interested parties in building a stronger understanding of program concepts. View and download the glossary in English and Spanish.
