MAKING CONSERVATION A CA WAY OF LIFE: Variance and temporary provision materials and webinar announcement

From the State Water Resources Control Board:

Urban Retail Water Suppliers intending to request variances or temporary provisions for their Urban Water Use Objectives may use the new template released by the State Water Board. The Excel-based Variance Request Template and accompanying FAQ document are available now on the Making Conservation a California Way of Life webpage.

In addition, State Water Board staff will host two Zoom webinars covering the variance and temporary provision submission process and use of the Variance Request Template. The intended audience is those who may have roles in filling out and submitting variance and temporary provision requests.

Each webinar will provide general information, a template walk-through, and allow time for Q&A. The presentation will be the same on both days. Recording and slides will be available on the webpage after the webinars have concluded.

To apply variance and temporary provision volumes to the Urban Water Use Objective for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 reporting period, Urban Retail Water Suppliers must submit all required information and documentation to the State Water Board by October 1, 2025.

Alternative data and method requests are reviewed by the Department of Water Resources.
