NOTICE: Friant Water Authority Announces Public Scoping Meeting for the Friant-Kern Canal Pump-Back Project

Friant Water Authority, in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is holding a public scoping meeting and public scoping review period for the Friant-Kern Canal Pump-Back Project (Project) to inform interested parties about the proposed project and to solicit agency and public input on the scope and content of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

The public scoping meeting is being conducted virtually utilizing Microsoft Teams. This meeting format will allow presentation of the project and public participation through the online chat function. The Notice of Preparation (NOP) is also being circulated for a 30-day comment period and is available here: https://friantwater.org/fkc-pumpback. The public scoping review period begins on May 29, 2024.

The Project proposes construction along the Friant-Kern Canal in Kern and Tulare counties. Operation of the Project could affect water system operations in Fresno, Merced, and Madera counties.
