The Merced Irrigation District and the California Department of Water Resources filed a 180-day temporary permit application T033344 with the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Water Rights to appropriate 18,000 acre-feet of water for diversion to underground storage, for later irrigation use. The water would be diverted from the Mariposa Creek stream system in Merced County.
