NOTICE: Notice Of Petition For Temporary Change Involving The Proposed Transfer From Carmichael Water District To Santa Clara Valley Water District And Various State Water Project Contractors

Notice is hereby given that on May 10, 2022, the Carmichael Water District filed with the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) a Petition for Temporary Change pursuant to Water Code section 1725, et seq. under License 1387.  The petition requests the transfer of up to 1,795 acre-feet of water for use within the Santa Clara Valley Water District and various State Water Project Contractors’ service areas.  Water will be made available for transfer through groundwater substitution.  Temporary changes approved pursuant to Water Code section 1725 may be effective for up to one year.  

The transfer is proposed to occur from July 1 through November 30, 2022.  A copy of the notice is posted on the State Water Board’s website at: 2022 Notices.     

The 30-day comment period per Water Code section 1726 (f) has been reduced to 15 days per the Governor’s Proclamation of a State of Emergency in the Klamath River, Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and Tulare Lake Watershed Counties due to drought (Drought Proclamation) dated May 10, 2021.  This Drought Proclamation will help expedite processing of water transfers.  Comments filed in response to this notice must be received by 4:30 p.m. on May 31, 2022.
