As of today, May 28, 2020, the State Wetland Definition and Procedures for the Discharges of Dredged or Fill Material to Waters of the State (Procedures) are in effect.
The Procedures provide a common, statewide Water Board definition of what constitutes a wetland. They also provide consistency in the way the State Water Board and nine regional water boards regulate activities to protect wetlands and other waterways, such as rivers and streams, and bays and estuaries.
The Water Boards would like to sincerely thank all of the interested stakeholders who helped identify the best approach to this project.
Resources, such as training materials, guidance, staff directory, and a new statewide application, are available at the State Water Board’s website at https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/cwa401/.
